The Urban Boys by K. N. Smith @knsmith_author @KMNbooks @masqtours #interview #UBTour

Karen: Let’s start with you telling the readers a little about yourself.
K.N. Smith: I’m an author living in California. I have a background in communications and creative design. I’ve had a 20-year career managing amazing communications and design projects, and now I also write fiction. I’m married to a retired law enforcement executive and have two daughters (both taller than me!).

Karen: The Urban Boys is your new release. Tell us a little about the story. What inspired you to write this tale?
K.N. Smith: The Urban Boys is a story about five teen boys who venture through a forest preserve where a mysterious energy incident gives them extremely heightened senses. When this happens, all heck breaks loose! It gets even more twisted when they meet a dark stranger and a fearless girl. My desire to get more young people reading is what inspired me to write this story.

Karen: __There are five teenage boys with powers. Tell us a little bit about the boys and their personalities. Have these boys always been friends?
K.N. Smith: Yes, they grew up together, they are best friends. All of them are such typical boys, and there’s plenty of playful behavior amongst them like punching and shoving, just for play. They play video games and hang out all the time, so it was not out of the ordinary that they were all together on that fateful night. I would say they are fun, loyal, and athletic. And they eat a lot. Glad I’m not cooking for those five boys!

Karen: Tell the readers what fascinates you about the paranormal. If you could have a special power, what would it be?
K.N. Smith: I love the paranormal because it can be anything you want it to be. Paranormal can come from nature, thin air, or it can be a reshaped memory from years past. Not science-fiction, and not horror, it’s kind of this floating thing that you can bend to create an amazing story. Mythical and exciting, the paranormal blends into a new mind experience, but must be written in such a way that emotions can be engaged along the way to make it believable. That’s where my lyrical and detailed writing style comes in. If I could have a special power, it would be either the ability to time travel (not sure if my iPhone would survive this!) or see anything, anywhere, but selectively, of course.

Karen: Is this book part of a series? If so, which book is this? What are your current projects and works in progress?
K.N. Smith: Yes, this is only the first book in the series! And from the recent reviews I’ve received, I had better finish the second one like yesterday! It’s in the works along with the plots for three additional books in The Urban Boys series.

Karen: What are your current projects and works in progress?
K.N. Smith: (see above)

Karen: Is there anything else you’d like to tell the readers?
K.N. Smith: Yes! I hope you continue to love reading and sharing your inspiring blogs and messages with others. My hope is that everyone will enjoy the book and provide their true feedback with openness and honesty. Be on the lookout soon for the second book in this series and for some cool reveals and promotions as we get underway in continuing the saga of … The Urban Boys!
