Books Worth Your Bucks - A Hell Hound's Fire (Cloudburst, Colorado Book 1) by @SiobhanMuir @KMNbooks

Welcome to Books Worth Your Bucks. This is an ongoing blog hop with fellow authors to introduce Indie or small pubbed authors to our readers. Each Friday we will spotlight an author's book, give buy links along with the links to the other authors participating in the hop, and say why we think this book is worth your bucks.

Part of our reasoning to do this is to bring more attention to the Indie authors we love to read. Please, keep in mind that these are our opinions.

The Nookettes of the Virtual writing colony of Nara's Nook have come up with this blog hop to share our favorites. Please feel free to join in and share your favorites.

Today's offering is:

A Hell Hound's Fire (Cloudburst, Colorado Book 1)
by Siobhan Muir

Who knew hell could be so heavenly...

Alex MacLaren is a Hell Hound werewolf, which is a very rare breed. His chances of meeting his true mate are slim at best. He's asked to protect Sarah Flanagan and her son from a demon who is bent on killing them. His first thought is to say no, but then he meets the feisty Irish werewolf and knows he can't refuse.
I really enjoyed this short story introducing Cloudburst, Colorado, a series by Siobhan Muir. It was fast-paced with memorable characters, tantalizing love scenes and kick-ass fighting. What's not to love? I can't wait to read the other stories in this series.

Love can be found in the most unlikely places, even the heart of a Hell Hound.

Alex MacLaren figures he'll never find love again after his mate dies. As one of the rare Hell Hound werewolves, his chances are slim to none. And slim went home. When the local Morukai shaman calls on him to protect a lovely Irish werewolf and her young son from demons, he can't help but take the job.

Sarah Flanagan is desperate to save her son Liam from the deadly monster trailing them, but she's out of options and places to hide. She lost her mate the last time she encountered a demon, and with Liam depending on her, the stakes are far higher this time. After meeting Alex, she's not sure about the Hell Hound, but she’s no fool. He’s their best hope for survival... and hers for another chance at love.

This is a short story introducing Cloudburst, Colorado, a new series by Siobhan Muir.

The Challenge by Debra St. John #sellathousand @readDebraStJohn @KMNbooks

When I submitted this story, my editor told me books of this length don't sell well. My immediate thought was how fun it would be to prove her wrong. (In the best way possible!)

Almost immediately an idea began to form. As crazy as it sounds, I decided to challenge myself to sell a thousand copies of this book.  Why a thousand, you ask? Simply because a hundred didn't seem like enough (LOL).

For less than the cost of a cup of coffee (and I'm not even talking about one of those fancy frou-frou ones) you can help me win this personal challenge. All you have to do is buy a copy of the book.  (Passing word of the challenge along to your reader friends would be appreciated, too.)

You might be thinking: What's in this for me? Well, I'll tell you... First, you get to read a great story! You also have the chance to win some prizes. (And who doesn't love prizes?) If you buy a copy of the book, if you tell a friend (or two or three or know, like those old commercials: And she told two friends and she told two friends and so on and so on...), if you Tweet about the challenge or post about it on Facebook, or if you leave a comment here, you can earn Rafflecopter entry points. The winner of the Rafflecopter drawing will get a paperback set (autographed of course!) of the original Corral series: This Time for Always, This Can't Be Love, and This Feels Like Home (If you're outside the continental U S of A the set will be digital.) AND digital copies (in the format of your choice) of the first four books in the Holidays at The Corral series (Christmas, Valentine's Day, Fourth of July, and Halloween).

So, what are you waiting for? Go grab a copy of New Year's Eve at The Corral!

TWRP / Amazon / Barnes and Noble

Happy Reading and many, many thanks for participating in my challenge!

Don't forget to enter the Rafflecopter Giveaway:

P.S. If you can't wait to find out if you've won copies of the holiday books, they are on sale for half price for most of the month of January 2017.

Books Worth Your Bucks- Rope A Falling Star- Siobhan Muir @KMNbooks #romance #cowboy

Please keep in mind, these are our opinions, and books we like to read.

Want to participate in the hop? Go to Nara's Nook and join in and share your favorite reads.

Today I'm sharing my review of Rope A Falling Star.

Only the best stars fall...

Three time bronc-riding champion Tom Colton’s dream of a fourth title ends when he draws Wooden Nickel, a mean little bronc with more twists than a maze. With his heart no longer in rodeo, he figures it’s time to go home to the Triple Star Ranch, the PTSD therapy ranch he and his dad founded to help others with trauma in their pasts. Tom just wants a little time to nurse his hurts and consider his next move.

Amber Hillcrest started out as a Triple Star client and stayed on as a massage therapist. Her dog Nimbus keeps her PTSD in check, but her heart remains bruised. She knows she’s too old and too broken for love, especially with the son of her boss, but he’s hot enough to fill her fantasies for years to come.

Amber tries to keep it professional between them, but Tom proves too irresistible with his big heart and charm. But someone is sabotaging the Triple Star and the neighboring Fantasy Ranch, and an ex-girlfriend keeps coming around, trying to reconnect with Tom. Tom’s hands are full of problems instead of the luscious massage therapist. But when Amber gets kidnapped, Tom will move heaven and earth to get her back and tell her how he truly feels.

 REVIEW: * * * * *
Sometimes dreams take us where we never thought to venture. Hunky Tom Colton may not be able to follow the rodeo circuit and win another bronc riding title, but he finds he may have a future at the Triple Star Ranch where his father started a PTSD therapy ranch for those in need. Tom's friendship with Amber Hillcrest, a former PTSD client and now the massage therapist at the ranch, starts to take fruit and with it a chance for a future he hadn't imagined possible.
Amber really likes Tom. However, she fears being ten years his senior and the difficulties she faces each day with her PTSD will ruin any chances for a lasting relationship. As if their budding friendship doesn't already have its challenges, there's someone who seems to be targeting Amber as if they have a grudge against her.

Rope a Falling Star definitely roped this reader right in. I fell in love with Tom and his caring ways. He proved a true match for Amber. I couldn't help but cheer for Amber and her courage to face her fears head on. I especially liked how Ms. Muir took on the issue of PTSD and explained how recovering from PTSD is a process and something that is not cured but dealt with understanding and patience. Amber has a service dog that helps her cope with her PTSD. Makes me want to know more about this service. Rope a Falling Star is Book One in the Triple Star Ranch series. I look forward to reading more adventures at the ranch and falling in love with more of Ms. Muirs' engaging characters.

Who Would You Cast for Two Worlds Collided? @KMNbooks #KindleScout #Nominee

If Two Worlds Collided were made into a movie, this is who my daughter and I decided would be perfect for the parts. We had fun with this. Have you ever imagined who would play your favorite character in a book?

Emilia Clarke would make a great Evie Reid in Two Worlds Collided. She's the heroine of the story, who time travels back to 1997 in hopes of influencing rock star, Bellamy Lovel not to end his life.

In 2007, Evie (Emerson Violet Reid) is a nurse and president of the fan club for Civilized Heathens. She was asked to be Lovel's assistant, a job his band mates felt he needed to keep him on schedule. Evie didn't take the job, but always wondered if she did, could she have made a difference?

Evie's best friend, Kelsey, suggests Evie time travel back to the point in her life where she refused the job, but this time accepts it. However, time travel by magic is tricky and has many rules. Only her essence is traveling and she'll merge with her younger self. This is a one-shot deal to get it right. A person can only travel back to a certain point in the time line once. And she can't just tell Bellamy how his life ends or she'll be catapulted back to her present life without changing a thing. The timeline doesn't like to be messed with, but it can be nudged. She can only try to influence Bellamy's decision. In the end, he's the only one who can decide the path he'll take.

Sebastian Stan would make a great bad boy, rock star. He can pull off long hair, too with a little curl to those thick waves.

About Bellamy Lovel: He is living life in the fast lane, but hopefully Evie will be able to convince him to slow down before it's too late.

At five-foot-ten and with dark curly black hair and striking blue-eyes, Bellamy Lovel was the frontman of Civilized Heathens. He was the main vocals, guitarist, and co-wrote the songs with Leon Green. He was a vibrant and sometimes wild man who could light up the stage with just his presence, but then add his sultry voice to the mix and he had the audience mesmerized. He died tragically on Sept. 22, 1997, during the Fall Fest Tour.

Margot Robbie would make the perfect Lisa Blaine. Lisa is one of Evie's friends, and to her parent's dismay is fan-girl crazy for Civilized Heathens. She's a twenty-four, leggy blonde who still lives at home with her parents, while she's trying to figure out what she wants to do with the rest of her life. She's enrolled at the community college for the third year in a row, but with no plans to stick it out past the first semester.

Kelsey lived in Louisiana until she was ten, when her Haitian mother uprooted her and her sister to drive across country to California, following a boyfriend who ended up being bad news. Kelsey never knew her Irish father, who had skipped town once he learned he was about to become a dad for a second time. Evie and Kelsey have been good friends since they were in college when they roomed together. Both struggled to complete nursing school while working part time at a restaurant that made them wear tight shirts and skimpy shorts, but the tips were good. To blow off steam, some nights they would crank up the stereo, drink wine and listen to Civilized Heathens into the wee hours of the night.
Kelsey has a spell book that was her mothers. She's certain she can work the spell.

Playlist for Two Worlds Collided by Karen Michelle Nutt @KMNbooks #timetravel #KindleScott #Nominee

Q. Where did the idea for this book come from?
A. My daughter and I watched INXS live at Wembley on TV. We were sad to think the lead singer, Michael Hutchence had died so tragically and there would never be another song written or performed by him. The time travel tale about rock star, Bellamy Lovel took root, but I wanted a happier ending and sent my heroine, Evie Reid back in time to try and save him.

Have a Memorable Weekend @KMNbooks

Memorial Day was originally called Decoration Day. It is a day of remembrance for those who have died in service of the United States of America.

On the first Decoration Day, General James Garfield made a speech at Arlington National Cemetery. There were over five thousand participants who decorated the graves of 20,000 Union and Confederate soldiers buried there.

In 1873, New York was the first state to officially recognize the holiday, but by 1890 all the northern states honored this day. The South, however, refused and chose another day to honor their dead, and this continued until after World War I when the holiday changed from honoring just those who died in the Civil War to honoring all who served and gave their lives for our country.

Many thanks to all those who have served.

What have some of VTP and PbRJV authors been up to? @KMNbooks @RebeccaJVickery #books #authors

At Once Upon A Word:

Learning new stuff is exhilarating, but it can also prove frightening...

Weekend Writing Warriors- Enjoy a snippet from Teresa Cypher's WIP. In her words...Setup:  Earth has been invaded by aliens. Our MC, Lily fled on foot. Her and her dog, Jobe, were just captured by the aliens. I've skipped ahead a couple of paragraphs. Lily is on the ground with her wrists and ankles secured. The aliens are falling asleep, and she's having a moment of reflection of what brought her to this moment. Jobe is right next to her.

Author of Jack and the Christmas Journey, which is featured in Have Yourself A Merry Little Romance anthology.

Snippet Sunday at Karen Michelle Nutt's Blog: Update from last week's snippet of Flowers and Fangs: Tim tried to kill Derek, but he fought the vampire off and wounded him. Tim escaped, leaving Derek to face the hysterical Sloane who is chanting Omigod over and over again. Derek is not sure if she's been bitten or has already turned and her hysterics is only a ploy.

Here's your chance to win a Kindle eBook copy of my paranormal tale, Flowers and Fangs.

Publishing by Rebecca J Vickery & Victory Tales Press's photo.
This month, Stephanie Burkhart will be taking snippets from my sweet vintage romance, Journey of the Heart.

News From Cecilia Corona: I’m already starting on new ideas for a second installation of Scotlynn’s story. So keep your eyes peeled for another story in the Afterlife collection!

Also, I am finishing up a story at the moment about a werewolf and a nymph. One’s a little bit country and the other lets just say he is a mix of Neo from the Matrix and Arthur Bishop from the movie Mechanic. He can totally kick butt when he needs to but he is super smooth and stealthy and you would never know what hit ya till it hits ya. ha!
