Interview with the fabulous Charmaine Gordon @CharJGordon @KMNbooks #books #author

Karen: Let's welcome Charmaine Gordon! I met Charmaine through Weekend Writing Warriors, where authors share snippets from their published work or works in progress. I've enjoyed all those snippets, Charmaine. So glad to have you here at KMN Books Blogspot. How about we start with you telling the readers a little about yourself.

Charmaine: Hi Karen, I’m excited to be your guest today. As an actor in NYC for many years doing daytime Drama, commercials, movies and stage, suddenly I lost the one thing an actor needs most. A Voice. Sad to say spasmodic dysphonia attacked my vocal chords and I had to find another outlet for creative juices flowing through me.

Karen: When Double Becomes Single is your new release. Tell us a little about you story.

Charmaine: It’s a story close to my heart and had to be told.

Karen: What inspired you to write this tale? Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

Charmaine: Events in my own life so it’s very personal at first and the whole idea is to Survive & Thrive even after the worst situations come into your life.

Karen: Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
Charmaine: No. Ideas flow. After typing The End, I cry then pace the floor for two days until an idea filters through and I begin a new story.

Karen: What are your current projects and works in progress?

Charmaine: The idea that came to me is this. One of my first books, Reconstructing Charlie has to do with a young girl who kills her drunken father  to protect her mother. The mother sends her to relatives she never knew about in Chicago. They take good care of Charlie and eventually her brother Jimmy comes to live with the aunt and uncle. BUT, twin little sisters are left behind. And that, my friend, is the fourth book in the series.

Karen: Is there anything else you’d like to tell the readers?
Charmaine: Regarding When Double Becomes Single, I’m excited to report already there are two 5 Star Reviews.

Excerpt from When Double Becomes Single:

The touch of her husband’s lips on hers warmed Sharon Michaels all the way home from the hospital. Remembering his whispered ‘I love you’ before she left released a cascade of tears. She groped in her bag for a tissue, found none and used the sleeve of her good winter coat as a blotter. Mac would fix Barry. Their favorite doctor always knew the magic potion to apply so Barry’s bad cough should be easy.

Exhausted after hours visiting with her husband at the hospital in Suffern, New York, Sharon stripped, brushed her teeth, washed her face and slipped under the comforter on this chilly night. The phone rang. She picked it up. Mac Bloom, the family doctor said something she couldn’t hear.

“Crisis? Is that what you said? I left him about an hour ago. We kissed and said I love you the way we’ve always done for thirty six years.”

Their doctor sighed. “Is anyone at home with you?”
