Andrea: I’m so excited to be here Karen! Thank you for having me.
Here's a blurb for LOVELAND:
When Lady Alexandra Calthorpe returns to the Loveland, Colorado, ranch
owned by her father, the Duke, she has little idea of how the experience
will alter her future. Headstrong and willful, Alex tries to overcome a
disastrous marriage in England and be free of the strictures of
Victorian society --and become independent of men. That is, until Jesse
Makepeace saunters back into her life...
Hot-tempered and hot-blooded
cowpuncher Jesse Makepeace can't seem to accept that the child he once
knew is now the ravishing yet determined woman before him. Fighting
rustlers proves a whole lot easier than fighting Alex when he's got to
keep more than his temper under control. Arguments abound as Alex
pursues her career as an artist and Jesse faces the prejudice of the
English social order. The question is, will Loveland live up to its
name?

PAGE 98.
“I really don’t wish to hear about this,” Alex retorted, keeping herself busy. Suddenly she was forced to think about Jesse with another woman, Jesse whoring, Jesse doing what men did. The incident the day of the circus with the soiled dove
had never bothered her; it had been funny if anything, yet hearing it now so plainly put by Bea, she was stunned. Confused, she put her brush down for a moment, then took it back up. One standard for men, another for women, she thought to herself.
Fine, let a man get experience, but I won’t be a virginal spinster, that’s for sure.

KAREN: SO WHAT DO YOU THINK, READERS? DO YOU WANT MORE? I'd like to know what Alex plans and if she's planning it with Jesse.
Andrea's Favorite line:
“Mama?” Sue Ann gave her mother a jab as
Annie filled a plate for her. “Are they kissing or
eating each other?”
**WHO WOULD YOU CAST?**
KAREN: Andrea, who would like to play your characters in Loveland?
ANDREA: If the book became a film I would have Keira Knightley as Alex (who I
actually had in mind as I wrote) and Ryan Gosling as Jesse.
KAREN: I like the cast. :) Readers, if you aren't sure who these fabulous actors are, click on the names and take a gander. Andrea, thank you again for being here with us today. I wish you the best success with your new release.

Hot-tempered and hot-blooded cowpuncher Jesse Makepeace-- Yeah, I want to know him better.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking the challenge. You have me intrigued. :)
Hello Andrea,
Your story sounds really good. What time period does the story take place?
Well thank you, Karen. I enjoyed it!
Hi Cathy: the story is set in the 1880s. There was a terrible winter in 1886/7 and they thought it was a second ice age. This proves to be pivotal to the story. Thanks for stopping by!
Andrea,
I love your snippet. These are dangerous to my wallet. lol
I never ask questions but thought I'd ask one today.
what do you like the best about your cowboy, Jesse?
Hi Katrina, thanks for your kind words. As for Jesse, I love the way he stands up for his own principles but somehow learns to be patient with Alex when those principles collide with her beliefs. Sometimes it proves to be tough going for him!
I like the heroine's attitude...not gonna have those double standards, by golly. Great paragraph. What drew an English writer to write a western? What kind of research did you have to do? Hot tea...a hug in a cup (according to the character, Patrick Jane in The Mentalist.) LOL
Hi Sarah, I have to tell you I'm actually American--went off to the UK many years ago to do my MA, got married and the rest, as they say, is history. But one good thing about raising a child in the UK is that the schools give a month at Xmas, a month at Easter and 2 months in the summer vacation. So, every Easter we went off to a ranch in AZ and every summer we went off to at least 2 in CO,WY or MT. So that was the start of my love affair with the west--or maybe a continuation as I always watched westerns on tv. As for research, I read a lot of memoirs of the period to get the voices correct and visited Loveland--of course! Actually, there's lots on the research I did in the author's note in the book :-)
Andrea,
I enjoy stories that have a bit of history weaved through the story. Loveland is a real place?
Great paragraph! Loved the blurb too. Congrats on your release!
Yes, Karen, Loveland Colorado actually exists--north of Denver fairly close to the Wyoming border. It forms a triangle with Greeley and Ft. Collins..
And Lisa, thanks for your good wishes!
Okay, so I'm wondering. Was there whoring with soiled doves in Jesse's past? Guess I have to get the book!
Andrea, that paragraph was a great one! I'm ready to read the whole story. May you have many sales with it.
Nancy, no spoilers here! My lips are sealed.
Ilona, thanks for your good wishes. I hope you'll enjoy the whole story!
Good day! It was such a pleasure to visit this blog and especially to read this blog entry. Also I would like to know one thing. Did you try guest blogging?
